As a responsible dog owner, one of the most important things that you can do is to always keep your dog current on his or her vaccinations, typically because these vaccinations can help you greatly increase the chances of your dog having a long and happy life. The main excuse that many people use when choosing not to have their dogs vaccinated is that their dog never really comes into contact with unfamiliar animals. In that situation, your dog may have come into contact with infected or diseased animals in the time it took you to find and bring your dog home.

Another reason to always keep your dog current on vaccinations is that there are some services that require up-to-date vaccinations. For example, if you ever want to take advantage of a doggie daycare service or a kennel service when you are at work are going out of town, those services will require up-to-date vaccinations to keep your dog from being a risk to the other animals in the kennel. Additionally, many rental properties will not even consider allowing you to have a pet unless you provide copies of up-to-date vaccination records.
