2 Reasons To Always Keep Your Dog Current On Vaccinations

Michele Cruz

As a responsible dog owner, one of the most important things that you can do is to always keep your dog current on his or her vaccinations, typically because these vaccinations can help you greatly increase the chances of your dog having a long and happy life. Listed below are two the many reasons to always keep your dog current on vaccinations:

There Is Always A Chance That Your Dog Can Be Exposed To Other Animals

The main excuse that many people use when choosing not to have their dogs vaccinated is that their dog never really comes into contact with unfamiliar animals. The problem with that excuse is that there is always a chance that your dog can be exposed to other animals no matter how careful you are or how enclosed your yard happens to be. For example, it is not all that difficult for a wild animal or another dog to dig under your fence or go over the top of your fence, at which point they could get into a scuffle with your dog and your dog could contract a disease if he or she is not vaccinated.

Additionally, there is also the chance that your dog may happen to find a way to escape your property, either by pulling himself or herself free from the leash while out on a walk or by digging their way out of your yard. In that situation, your dog may have come into contact with infected or diseased animals in the time it took you to find and bring your dog home.

There Are Some Services That Require Up-To-Date Vaccinations

Another reason to always keep your dog current on vaccinations is that there are some services that require up-to-date vaccinations. For example, if you ever want to take advantage of a doggie daycare service or a kennel service when you are at work are going out of town, those services will require up-to-date vaccinations to keep your dog from being a risk to the other animals in the kennel. Additionally, many rental properties will not even consider allowing you to have a pet unless you provide copies of up-to-date vaccination records.

Speak to your veterinarian today to discuss why you should keep your dog current on vaccinations and to schedule an appointment to have those vaccinations applied. You will want to always keep your dog current on vaccinations because there is always a chance that your dog can be exposed to other animals and because there are some services that will require you to keep your dog up-to-date on his or her vaccinations.

Creating A Great Home For Your Animals

A few months back, I realized that our kids were really lonely. We knew that we wouldn't be able to have any other children, so we started focusing on what we could do to make a difference. We started exploring the possibility of adopting an animal, and before we knew it, we were bringing home a pet that we knew our kids would love. They were incredibly receptive to the idea of having the little puppy, and after a few days together, I knew that he would become a treasured member of our family.
